Paternity leave
The period of paternity leave is set at 11 consecutive days or 18 consecutive days in the event of a multiple birth.

Paternity leave is provided by the French Social security code : article L. 331-8
The period of paternity leave is set at 11 consecutive days (18 consecutive days in the event of a multiple birth)
- Saturdays, Sundays and holidays are counted.
- The 11 days are allowed uninterrupted. It is not possible to split them.
- The father can choose a paternity leave less than 11 days
- The paternity leave must begin within 4 months following birth.
- The paternity leave comes on top of the 3 authorized absence days scheduled by the employer for a birth ( according to the French labour code, article L. 3142-1 )
- The paternity leave can begin immédiately after these 3 days.
Daily allowances are paid by Social security funds to the father only if the paternity leave is taken within 4 months following birth.
